Horizontal Boring & Tunneling Co. seeks skilled laborers for year-round trenchless utility projects across the central US. Responsibilities include site setup, equipment operation, and pipe installation with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Applicants must have 3+ years of underground utility experience, CDL Class A preferred, and be prepared for physical work in varying weather conditions. Competitive pay and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in underground utility construction.
• Experience operating trenchless equipment (Tunnel Boring, Guided Boring, Auger Boring).
• Heavy equipment operation including excavators, backhoes, skid steers, and forklifts.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload trailers and prepare job site materials.
• Set up materials and fuel equipment for daily operations.
• Operate trenchless machines and heavy Equipment as directed.
• Surveying, installing and welding pipe; interpret plans and specs.
• Work year-round outdoors, follow safety briefings and DOT requirements.

OUR DUTIES

We work year-round, outdoors and in all types of environments and weather conditions throughout the middle 1/3 of the United States. Our projects typically last one to two weeks at a time and we work weekends as needed.

Our day starts with a safety briefing and travel to our job site followed by loading/unloading trailers, setting up materials, fueling equipment, operating hand/power tools, trenchless machines and heavy equipment, surveying, installing and welding pipe, and other related construction activities.

WE ARE SEEKING SKILLED LABORERS with 3+ years of experience in the following skills or similar is preferred:

• Construction experience in underground utility, heavy highway, bridges, dirt work, and/or welding, etc.
• Trenchless experience operating specialized equipment such as Tunnel Boring, Guided Boring and/or Auger Boring systems.
• Heavy equipment experience loading/unloading materials, excavating soil, operating and maintaining excavators, backhoes, skidsteers, bucket loaders, and/or forklifts, etc.
• Jobsite set up experience interpreting plans and specifications, using surveying equipment to calculate grade and alignment.

Essential job duties include climbing ladders into and out of earthen pits/trenches; walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, stooping, squatting, lifting and climbing; full range of motion and use of arms and legs.

Successful applicants must have a valid driver’s license (Class A CDL w/Tanker Endorsement preferred) and pass a DOT physical, drug tests and background checks.
