Horizontal Boring & Tunneling Co. in Omaha, NE is seeking a Skilled Construction Laborer to support trenchless projects across Nebraska. You will load/unload, operate equipment, and help prepare sites.

Applicants should have 3+ years in underground construction, pass DOT tests, and hold a valid CDL preferred. We offer competitive pay and benefits in a family-owned atmosphere.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of construction experience in underground utilities, heavy highway, bridges, dirt work or welding.
• Experience operating trenchless equipment such as tunnel boring, guided boring or auger boring systems.
• Ability to load/unload materials and operate heavy equipment safely on active job sites.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload trailers and set up materials for job sites.
• Operate trenchless machines and heavy equipment at project locations.
• Surveying, installing and welding pipe as required by the project.
• Interpret plans and specifications to ensure correct grade and alignment.

OUR DUTIES

We work year-round, outdoors and in all types of environments and weather conditions. On Mondays we report to Omaha, Nebraska (or other assigned locations) to work on local job sites in Omaha and throughout Nebraska. Occasional traveling to complete work in the Midwest may be needed. Our projects typically last one to two weeks at a time and we work weekends as needed.

Our day starts with a safety briefing and travel to our job site followed by loading/unloading trailers, setting up materials, fueling equipment, operating hand/power tools, trenchless machines and heavy equipment, surveying, installing and welding pipe, and other related construction activities.

Skilled laborers bring 3+ years of experience in the following skills or similar is preferred:

• Construction experience in underground utility, heavy highway, bridges, dirt work, and/or welding, etc.
• Trenchless experience operating specialized equipment such as Tunnel Boring, Guided Boring and/or Auger Boring systems.
• Heavy equipment experience loading/unloading materials, excavating soil, operating and maintaining excavators, backhoes, skid steers, bucket loaders, and/or forklifts, etc.
• Jobsite set up experience interpreting plans and specifications, using surveying equipment to calculate grade and alignment.

Essential job duties include climbing ladders into and out of earthen pits/trenches; walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, stooping, squatting, lifting and climbing; full range of motion and use of arms and legs.

Successful applicants must have a valid driver’s license (Class A CDL w/Tanker Endorsement preferred) and pass a DOT physical, drug tests and background checks.
