Alief Independent School District is seeking a Crafts II - Carpenter within the Maintenance Department in Houston, TX. The role focuses on routine building maintenance, repairs, and skilled carpentry work across district facilities.

The position requires experience in carpentry, adherence to safety guidelines, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions. Salary ranges from $20.96 to $29.08 per hour, with a 260 calendar-day schedule and a MT07 pay grade.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalency preferred.
• Valid Class C Texas driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Possess licenses/certifications as required by local/state/federal agencies.
• Knowledge of primary maintenance trade of computer systems.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and adjust daily routine.
• Skills to meet performance responsibilities and use all tools/equipment.
• Knowledge of safety requirements for maintenance of buildings/equipment/grounds.
• Ability to work in varied weather conditions.
• Experienced in carpentry repairs and skilled applications.

Responsibilities

• Make skilled repairs in facilities and sites owned by the district.
• Perform skilled repair and/or new work on approved work orders.
• Receive and complete work orders promptly; maintain material/labor records.
• Recognize when assistance is needed to solve problems.
• Regular inspections of district facilities for preventive maintenance.
• Comply with department working guidelines and safety rules.
• Inspect jobs on completion and ensure areas are clean.
• Respond to emergency calls as needed.
