Job summary

The primary purpose of this position is to provide operations and maintenance support through skilled carpentry work, including the construction, alteration, installation, and repair of structural frameworks and wooden components. Based in Guam, the Carpenter will read blueprints, lay out work, select materials, and install doors, windows, trim, and related components while maintaining safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of related carpentry experience.
• Ability to safely set up and operate common and specialized power equipment, machinery, and hand tools used in carpentry and construction.
• Knowledge of advanced shop mathematics and the ability to apply mathematical principles to plan and execute complex and precise projects.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, shop drawings, specifications and work orders and accurately estimate required labor, materials and time.
• Practical knowledge of worksite safety and standard safety practices.
• Valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, to operate vehicles or equipment as required.
• Eligibility to access applicable government worksite.

Responsibilities

• Plans and lays out carpentry work using blueprints, work orders, shop drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
• Determines the materials, supplies, equipment, and tools required to complete assigned work safely and efficiently.
• Performs precise measuring, cutting, fitting, and installation to ensure structurally sound assemblies and quality finishes.
• Constructs, installs, repairs, and modifies doors, windows, stairways, ceilings, trim, and other components.
• Fabricates and installs fixtures and utility components for offices, shops, and industrial facilities.
• Maintains safety, coordinates with other trades, and inspects completed work for quality and compliance.
