Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut is seeking an Onsite Jet Engine Assembly Technician to train and assemble engine sections according to drawings and specifications, supporting test operations and using specialized tools to build modules for new gas turbine engines. Candidates must be eligible for DoW SkillBridge, be on active‑duty orders in the U.S.

Armed Forces, and hold a high school diploma with military aviation training in powerplant, airframes or avionics.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible to participate in DoW SkillBridge.
• Must be on Active‑Duty orders in the U.S. Armed Forces.
• Must be eligible to participate per DoD Instruction 1322.29.
• Must have all TAP and transition requirements completed prior to the start date.
• Must receive approval from Unit Commander or O4+ in the chain of command.

Responsibilities

• Follow assembly drawings/specifications to prepare parts and build engine subassemblies.
• Assist with engine test operations and component tests as assigned.
• Use overhaul procedures and specifications to perform mechanical work on engines and modules.
• Obtain parts, check conformance to assembly requirements, and measure components to specs.

What You Will Do

Training and mentorship opportunities include, but are not limited to, following assembly drawings and/or specifications and computer information systems to prepare parts and build subassemblies, modules and accessories for new gas turbine engines where tooling and process methods are established. Perform similar duties assisting with engine test operations and performing component and accessory tests as assigned. Use overhaul and repair procedures and specifications to perform the mechanical work to overhaul engines, modules and related components. Obtain parts, check details for conformance to assembly requirements and fit and measure components to assure overall dimensions are within limits specified. Use mechanic’s hand tools, holding fixtures, and specialized assembly equipment to build engine sections and perform installation of details and maintain equipment and tooling for assigned areas. Provide related support for test operations and assist with testing under direct supervision and specific test schedules. Perform similar duties to assist with co‑producer, customer support or other similar programs, retrofit projects and to accommodate new engine programs and assist with changes in specifications.
