Job summary

Prattwhitney is hiring a Mechanic to join our Columbus Engine Center in Midland, Texas. This 2nd Shift position plays a critical role in the overhaul and assembly of advanced jet engines. Candidates will work on turbine engine maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, with preferred experience in aviation engine repair. We offer comprehensive benefits, including medical coverage and a 401(k) plan.

At Pratt & Whitney, a world leader in aircraft engine design and manufacturing, we’re seeking a Mechanic to join our Columbus Engine Center. In this 2nd Shift position (Monday – Thursday 3:30pm – 2:00am), you’ll play a critical role in the overhaul, repair, and assembly of advanced jet engines that power commercial and military aircraft worldwide.

What You Will Do

• Work as a member of a team responsible for turbine engine, engine module, or component maintenance in accordance with published work instructions and approved technical data.
• Utilize hand tools and a variety of tooling/fixtures to assemble, disassemble, and test a jet engine.
• Ensure all phases of assembly/disassembly meet work‑instruction specifications and comply with required self‑inspection or peer‑inspection procedures.
• Monitor processes to meet Safety, Quality and Delivery objectives.

Qualifications You Must Have

• High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Aviation engine overhaul and repair experience.
• Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License or Powerplant (P) Certificate.
• Hands‑on experience in one or more of the following disciplines: disassembly, inspection, assembly, or turbine engine test operations.
• Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma.
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications and SAP.

Role Type

This is an Onsite role – you will work primarily at the Columbus facility. Commuting is the employee’s personal responsibility.
