Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in Middletown, CT, is seeking an experienced aircraft engine mechanic for 2nd shift (Mon–Fri, 3:12pm–11:59pm). You will follow assembly drawings and specifications to prepare parts and build subassemblies for gas turbine engines and assist with engine tests.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with an A&P license or 5+ years of heavy automotive experience; aerospace/mechanical experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent & formal training in a specialized field achieving A&P license or equivalent OR 4 years of technical high school including technical post high school certification and 5+ years of heavy automotive experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow assembly drawings and specifications to prepare parts and build subassemblies for new gas turbine engines; assist with engine test operations and component tests.
• Use overhaul and repair procedures to perform mechanical work to overhaul engines and components.
• Obtain parts, check conformance to assembly requirements, and measure components to ensure dimensions are within limits.
• Use hand tools, holding fixtures, and assembly equipment to build engine sections and maintain tooling for assigned areas.
• Provide support for test operations and assist with testing under supervision and schedules.
• Assist with co-producer, customer support or other programs and retrofit projects as needed to support new engine programs.

This position is for 2nd shift. Hours are Monday - Friday 3:12pm - 11:59pm.

What You Will Do:

• Under direction of leader/supervisor, follow assembly drawings and/or specifications and computer information systems to prepare parts and build subassemblies, modules and accessories for new gas turbine engines where tooling and process methods are established. Perform similar duties assisting with engine test operations and performing component and accessory tests as assigned.
• Use overhaul and repair procedures and specifications to perform the mechanical work to overhaul engines, modules and related components.
• Obtain parts, check details for conformance to assembly requirements and fit and measure components to assure overall dimensions are within limits specified.
• Use mechanic’s hand tools, holding fixtures, and specialized assembly equipment to build engine sections and perform installation of details and maintain equipment and tooling for assigned areas.
• Provide related support for test operations and assist with testing under direct supervision and specific test schedules.
• Perform similar duties to assist with co-producer, customer support or other similar programs, retrofit projects and to accommodate new engine programs and assist with changes in specifications.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent & formal training in a specialized field achieving A&P license or equivalent OR 4 years of technical high school including technical post high school certification and 5+ years of heavy automotive experience.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Experience as an aerospace mechanic or A&P mechanic preferred.
• 3 + years avionics mechanic experience.
