Job summary

ChildServe is seeking a Skill Development Assistant to provide 1:1 personal care and skill development for children with special health care needs in home and community settings. Flexible scheduling often after 4pm or on weekends, with ongoing training and supervision supplied.

You will document observations, support daily living skills, and assist with transportation if needed. A background in caregiving for children with special health care needs is preferred, and strong written and spoken

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience working with or caring for children with special health care needs preferred.
• Ability to document observations and services accurately.
• Reliable access to the internet to complete required trainings and documentation.
• English reading, writing, and spoken communication proficient.

Child Serve's Supported Community Living (SCL) service has a job for you! As a Skill Development Assistant, you will provide 1:1 personal care, skill development, supervision, and training for children with special health care needs in a child’s home and integrated community settings.

Schedule Flexible scheduling with most shifts occurring after 4pm Monday through Friday, or on weekends.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Have fun and work 1:1 with children with special health care needs in the child’s home and/or community.
• Teach daily living skills that will help make children more independent.
• Ongoing training and supervision provided.
• Great resume builder for those interested in social work, education, therapy, nursing, and psychology.

What You’ll Need:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Experience working with or caring for children with special health care needs preferred.
• Basic computer skills and have reliable access to the internet to complete required documentation and online trainings.
• Good oral and written communication skills and can accurately document all observations, significant events, and services provided.
• Must be willing to provide transportation as a ChildServe authorized driver, if required. This includes passing a motor vehicle record check and car safety check and able to provide a valid driver’s license and insurance.
• Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing and speaking the English language.
• Ability to lift up - to 35 lbs. be mobile within the assigned work area, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
