Job summary

ChildServe seeks a Skill Development Specialist to provide 1:1 personal care, skill development, supervision, and training for children with special health care needs in a child’s home and community settings.

This full-time role offers flexible scheduling with most shifts after 4pm on weekdays or weekends, and requires a HS diploma or GED, basic computer skills, and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Experience caring for children with special health care needs preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and reliable internet access for documentation and trainings.
  • Strong written and oral communication; ability to document observations accurately.
  • Willing to provide transportation as an authorized driver; valid license and insurance.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs; mobile within the assigned area.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 personal care and supervision in the child’s home or community.
  • Teach daily living skills to promote independence.
  • Complete required documentation and participate in ongoing training.

Job description

Child Serve's Supported Community Living (SCL) service has a Full-time job for you! As a Skill Development Specialist, you will provide 1:1 personal care, skill development, supervision, and training for children with special health care needs in a child’s home and integrated community settings.

Schedule Flexible scheduling with most shifts occurring after 4pm Monday through Friday, or on weekends. This is a full-time position

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Have fun and work 1:1 with children with special health care needs in the child’s home and/or community.
  • Teach daily living skills that will help make children more independent.
  • Ongoing training and supervision provided.
What You’ll Need:
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with or caring for children with special health care needs preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and have reliable access to the internet to complete required documentation and online trainings.
  • Good oral and written communication skills and can accurately document all observations, significant events, and services provided.
  • Must be willing to provide transportation as a ChildServe authorized driver, if required. This includes passing a motor vehicle record check and car safety check and able to provide a valid driver’s license and insurance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing and speaking the English language.
  • Ability to lift up - to 35 lbs. be mobile within the assigned work area, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
