We are seeking a Skid Steer Operator to join our Asphalt division's Base Prep Crew. This position plays a critical role in preparing roadways, parking lots, and other paving surfaces prior to asphalt placement. The ideal candidate will have experience operating a skid steer in grading, fine grading, material placement, and site preparation activities while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.ResponsibilitiesOperate a skid steer safely and efficiently on asphalt paving and site development projectsPerform base preparation work, including grading, fine grading, trimming, and shaping aggregate base materialsAssist with roadway, parking lot, and site preparation prior to asphalt placementLoad, move, and distribute aggregate, millings, and other construction materialsEnsure that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest level of qualityMaintain equipment and perform basic repairs as neededCommunicate regularly with other crew members and subcontractors to ensure that work is completed on schedule and within budgetDevelop and maintain relationships with crew members and subcontractors to ensure that they are aware of project schedules and deadlinesEnsure that all equipment is properly maintained and that safety procedures are followed at all timesIdentify and resolve issues that arise during construction projectsProvide on-the-job training to new operators as neededOther duties as assignedQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in heavy equipment operation preferred2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment, with experience in a construction setting preferredAbility to read and interpret construction plans and specificationsStrong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiencesStrong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze project data and identify trends and opportunities for improvementExperience with government contracts and compliance is a plusEqual Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with DisabilitiesThe contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
