Job Description

The successful candidate will operate equipment and be responsible for operating and maintaining a skid steer loader to move materials, load and unload trucks, and assist with various construction or landscaping projects.

Job Duties
  • Operate skid steer loader to move materials, such as dirt, gravel, sand, or debris.
  • Load and unload trucks with the skid steer loader.
  • Assist with construction or landscaping projects by moving materials, digging, grading, and leveling.
  • Perform routine maintenance on the skid steer loader, such as checking fluids, replacing filters, and lubricating parts.
  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Occasionally shovel dirt, gravel, and asphalt.
  • General clean up around job site.
  • Check and maintain grade stakes.
  • Monitor gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure the machine is working properly.
  • Responsible for notifying department lead of any potential safety or equipment issues immediately.
  • Responsible for following processes and procedures correctly.
  • Responsible for wearing appropriate clothing, shoes, and personnel protective equipment.
  • All other duties as assigned or required.
  • Maintain professional conduct at all times.
  • Complete all assigned Learning Management System initiatives.
Experience & Knowledge
  • The ideal candidate should have one year experience in operating small e The ability to judge which of several objects is closer or farther away from you, or to judge the distance between you and an object.
  • The ability to see details at a distance and close range.
  • The ability to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal when it appears.
  • The ability to time your movements or the movement of a piece of equipment in anticipation of changes in the speed and/or direction of a moving object.
  • The ability to choose quickly between two or more movements in response of equipment.
  • Must have the ability to acquire understanding and absorb new information (a quick study).
  • Must have the ability to be careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.
  • Must have the ability to work in a team setting and establish collaborative peer relationship.
  • Must have the ability to detect problems, errors, omissions, miscalculations, and non-compliance against requirements.
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, and schedule work in an efficient and productive manner. Ability to focus on key priorities, juggles multiple projects, and manages time effectively.
  • Must have the ability to maintain poise and composure under heavy pressure from supervisors and/or company officers.

  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal communication.

Exercise some judgment to operate the loader safely around people, structures, and underground utilities and to monitor the operating conditions of the loader, complying with instructions and prescribed routines, methods or procedures and involving the making of minor decisions.

Physical Activity & Demand
  • Lifting and carrying, pushing and/or pulling up to 50 lbs (+‑50%) of the time.
  • Standing/walking/climbing (+‑50%) of the time.
  • Occasional sitting in a normal position for an extended time (+‑50%) of the time.
  • Frequent reaching/handling/feeling (+‑70%) of the time.
  • Frequent use of finger dexterity (+70%) of the time.
Mental & Visual Demand

Frequent mental or visual attention, where the flow of work is intermittent or the operation involves waiting for a machine or process to complete a cycle, with some checking, position requires visual acuity including depth perception and field of vision.

Responsibility for Equipment or Process

Responsible for preventing damage to equipment due to improper operation, handling or use.

Responsibility for Material or Product

Responsible for preventing damage to material by over‑rolling, under‑rolling, or breakage due to rolling over some material like curb or valves.

Responsibility for Safety of Others

Normal care required in operating equipment or performing duties to prevent injury to others; an accident, should it occur, would result in loss‑time injuries such as crushed hand or foot, loss of fingers or toes.

Responsibility for Work of Others
  • Responsible for own work.

Injuries should they occur could result in partial incapacitation due to burns, loss or breakage of arm or leg.
