Job description

Overview

First ones on the mountain. Last ones off. Every single day. As a Boyne Mountain Ski Patroller, you're not just skiing the slopes: you're responsible for every guest on them. From the moment the lifts open to the moment the last rider comes down, you're the eyes, the expertise, and the calm presence that makes Boyne Mountain a safe and welcoming place for everyone who visits.

This is a role that carries real weight and real privilege — the privilege of managing the mountain, making critical decisions in the field, all while doing something you love. We're looking for skilled, composed, and deeply committed individuals who understand that safety and service go hand in hand. Everything we do at Boyne Mountain is guided by our core values, L.E.A.D.S.: Long-Term Thinking, Excellence in Execution, Attitude is Everything, Develop Great People, and Serve First. You'll bring those values to every run, every emergency response, and every guest interaction on the mountain.

As a Boyne Mountain team member, there are so many awesome perks for you to take advantage of, such as: ski passes, golf passes, waterpark passes, and discounts for food, beverages, retail, daycare, and so much more!

Responsibilities
  • Long-Term Thinking - Maintain safety signage, identify and communicate skiing hazards, and promote a culture of safety across the mountain, helping ensure that Boyne Mountain remains a place where guests return season after season with confidence.
  • Excellence in Execution - Provide first aid and emergency assistance to injured guests, transport patients as needed, complete daily logs, accident forms, and required investigations with thoughtful accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Attitude is Everything - You approach each day (whether a bluebird morning or a demanding emergency) with professionalism, composure, and the steady can-do energy that keeps guests calm and your team sharp.
  • Develop Great People - Lead by example on the mountain, sharing your expertise and reinforcing safety standards with fellow patrollers and resort team members every shift.
  • Serve First - Patrol ski slopes to ensure the safety and well-being of every guest on the mountain: monitoring for injured, reckless, or lost skiers and snowboarders, and responding quickly and effectively when someone needs help.
  • Enforce area policies where applicable, always balancing authority with empathy and respect for every guest on the hill.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Mountain Experience leadership team.
Qualifications
  • You are at least 18 years old and an advanced or expert skier.
  • You hold a current EMT, OEC, or equivalent certification, and American Heart Association or Red Cross CPR/AED training, additional first-aid experience or licensing is a plus.
  • Prior ski patrol experience is strongly preferred.
  • You're available to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays throughout the ski season.
  • You're physically prepared for the demands of the role: able to ski, walk, and remain active for hours each day; hike with skis and a pack; lift up to 50 pounds; and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • You're calm under pressure, empathetic with guests, and committed to making every decision with safety first.
