Job summary

Vail Resorts is seeking an experienced Ski Patrol Manager for Crested Butte to lead all patrol operations and ensure peak safety for guests and staff. You will manage budgets, schedule personnel, and drive a culture of accountability and exceptional service.

The role emphasizes collaboration across Mountain Operations, risk management, and external agencies, with a focus on leadership development and operational excellence in a winter seasonal context.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of Patrol experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead overall Ski Patrol department operations and budgets.
• Oversee daily patrol operations in partnership with leadership for safe mountain operations.
• Foster accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and alignment with company values.
• Champion guest service, safety, and professionalism across the department.
• Conduct daily staff meetings, reinforce safety standards, participate in COE initiatives.
• Collaborate with external agencies and internal teams to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Oversee winter setup, spring teardown, trail openings/closures, signage, ropes, and padding.
• Manage training programs, scheduling, and staff development.
• Lead the apprentice program including staffing, budgeting, testing, and forecasting.
• Work with Snow Surfaces and Grooming to set daily priorities.
• Participate in Resort Leadership Team meetings and operations calls.
• Oversee Accident Investigation with Health & Safety coordination.
• Engage in company leadership development programs.
