Ski & Board School Director
SUMMARY: Manages all aspects of the Ski & Board School by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for the operation of the departments of ski school.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of curriculum and training of all staff per PSIA guidelines.
  • Responsible for the Ski School Office in organizing and scheduling of group and private lessons.
  • Maintains pre and post season communications with staff and administration.
  • Performs duties of subordinates, as needed.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Due to the many variables that affect Winter resort operations, such as weather and number of guests, occasionally employees may be asked to perform other duties or assist in efforts outside their primary area of responsibility as needed, including performing in any subordinate position.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages three subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 5 – 55 employees in the Ski School Office and Ski School Outside Operations. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises one non-supervisory employee. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Conducts weekly safety meetings and inspections as part of companies safety policies.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT: Must be at least 21 years of age.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Preferred PSIA Level II or III, or examiner, or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Must have strong communication skills Must have strong guest relations skills. Must have strong leadership skills. Must be and excellent organizer capable of delegating responsibility and utilizing staff members to maximize their talents. Must have strong management skills.
Training, Certificates & Licenses
China Peak Mountain Resort On-Duty Skier/Snowboarder Certification to level 3 skills
Valid California Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
Preferred PSIA Level Certification
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMAND LEVEL: 2 – MEDIUM
This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied and in many cases include steep stairways, multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
