Arch Amenities Group, LLC is seeking a Skating Instructor at the Skaneateles Community Center to teach ice skating to all ages and levels in a safe, encouraging environment. Lessons follow our established curriculum with structured progression and constructive feedback.

The role involves planning and delivering group and individual sessions, monitoring on-ice safety, and maintaining records. Weekday preschool/homeschool sessions and weekend Learn to Skate programs are available, with flexibility

Qualifications

  • Prior skating experience required; professional or competitive background in figure skating or hockey preferred.
  • Previous teaching or coaching experience strongly preferred.
  • Learn to Skate USA certification needed.
  • CPR/First Aid certification required or obtainable within 30 days of hire.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic teaching style.
  • Ability to manage group dynamics and keep participants engaged.
  • Reliable, professional, and team-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct ice skating lessons for beginners through advanced levels, including figure skating or hockey fundamentals.
  • Provide individualized and group instruction, demonstrations, and hands-on guidance during lessons.
  • Adapt instruction techniques based on the age, ability, and learning style of participants.
  • Offer encouragement and skill progression recommendations to help students reach their goals.
  • Monitor on-ice safety and ensure all skaters follow rink rules and guidelines.
  • Perform warm-ups and cool-downs and instruct proper technique to prevent injuries.
  • Assist with first aid and emergency procedures when needed.
  • Assist with program registration, skill assessments, and progress reports.
  • Participate in special ice events and activities as needed.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and lesson records.
  • Ensure skaters are properly equipped with fitted skates and safety gear.
  • Report unsafe conditions or equipment issues to management.
  • Help maintain a clean and orderly rink environment before, during, and after sessions.

Job Summary:

The Skating Instructor is responsible for teaching ice skating skills to individuals or groups of all ages and skill levels, in a safe, engaging, and encouraging environment. This role delivers structured instruction in accordance with established curriculum guidelines and provides skill development, feedback, and motivation to skaters. Weekday hours for pre-school instruction, homeschool instruction and afternoon and weekends available for Learn to Skate program

Key Responsibilities:

Instruction & Coaching
