Job summary

Harris Pavilion is seeking a Skate Host to create a safe, fun, and welcoming experience for skaters. This seasonal, non-exempt role monitors the ice, greets guests, and enforces safety procedures with a friendly, high-energy approach.

You will report to the General Manager as part of the Operations team, assist during events, help with set-up and cleanup, monitor ice conditions, greet guests, educate on rink rules, and contribute to guest satisfaction and safe, memorable experiences for all

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Intermediate-level skater or better preferred.
• Flexible work schedule (nights, weekends, holidays) and long hours.
• Comfortable skating for extended periods.
• Excellent guest service skills and interpersonal abilities.
• Previous Skate Host experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Actively monitor skaters on the ice to maintain safety and enjoyment.
• Greet guests with warmth and enthusiasm; offer guidance as needed.
• Provide exceptional guest service both on and off the ice.
• Educate skaters about rink rules and safety procedures.
• Alert management to unsafe or hazardous ice conditions.
• Assist guests during incidents or falls and contact management when necessary.
• Resolve guest concerns and/or direct to appropriate Manager.
• Monitor and assist in maintaining ice and surrounding area cleanliness and safety.
• Assist with special events, setup, monitoring and cleanup as required.
• Participate in training sessions and team meetings; support team alignment.
• Assist other departments as necessary.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Skate Hosts are the friendly faces of the rink-creating a safe, fun, and welcoming environment for all skaters. This highly visible, guest-facing role is perfect for those who love the ice, enjoy helping others, and have great energy. Skate Hosts are responsible for monitoring the ice, assisting guests, and maintaining a positive atmosphere while ensuring all safety procedures are followed.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

• Actively monitor skaters on the ice and help maintain a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone
• Greet guests with warmth and enthusiasm; offer guidance and support as needed
• Provide exceptional guest service both on and off the ice
• Politely educate skaters about rink rules and encourage compliance to maintain a safe environment
• Alert management to any unsafe or potentially hazardous ice conditions
• Execute policies and procedures professionally and accurately
• Assist guests during incidents or falls and contact management when necessary
• Professionally resolve guest concerns and complaints and/or direct to appropriate Manager
• Monitor and assist in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the ice and surrounding area as needed, especially during inclement weather
• Assist with special events, including set-up, monitoring, and clean-up as required
• Participate in all training sessions and team member meetings to support team communication and alignment on goals
• Assist other departments as necessary
• Professionally execute all other duties as assigned by management

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be at least 16 years of age
• Intermediate-level skater or better preferred
• Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays and long hours) and regular attendance necessary
• Comfortable skating for extended periods
• Enthusiastic, reliable, and team-oriented, with excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to maintain focus in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and stressful situations
• Must have excellent guest service skills
• Previous experience as a Skate Host or in a similar role is preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Must be able to lift 40 pounds waist high
• May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time, whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop, or bend into awkward positions while performing job functions
• Must be able to skate for extended periods
• Must be able to work in cold and inclement weather for prolonged periods of time
