Job summary

Seattle City Light, the City of Seattle's municipally owned utility, is recruiting a Hydroelectric Operator for the Skagit Hydroelectric Project to operate the hydroelectric plant and related equipment, and to coordinate activities affecting safety and operation.

You will need knowledge of generation, transmission and distribution systems, emergency action plans, safety procedures, and the hazards of working in dams and powerhouses, and you must adapt to varied shifts and weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in the electrical trade or as a Hydroelectric Operator.
• Experience in generation/transmission/distribution operations.
• Commitment to safety and hazard awareness in dam environments.

Responsibilities

• Operates and monitors plant equipment including valves, generators and related systems.
• Ensures worker safety during malfunctions and during operations.
• Receives switching orders and coordinates with dispatchers for plant operation.
• Inspects dams, switchyards and equipment and notifies maintenance when needed.
• Maintains logs and prepares reports like daily surveillance and inspection reports.
