Job summary

Seattle City Light is seeking a Hydroelectric Operator II to operate a hydroelectric plant at the Skagit project and coordinate activities affecting plant safety, dams, waterways, and workers. You will monitor equipment, receive dispatch orders, and maintain logs and reports to ensure reliable power generation.

Two years of electrical trade or hydroelectric operator experience, valid WA driver’s license, and ability to work on-call or nights are required.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in the electrical trade or as a Hydroelectric Operator.
• Knowledge of generation, transmission and distribution systems.
• Ability to operate and supervise hydroelectric plant equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor hydroelectric plant equipment including valves, generators and related systems.
• Maintain logs and prepare reports (daily visuals, weather reports, inspections).
• Receive and implement dispatch instructions for plant operations.
• Ensure safety of workers and respond to malfunctions.
• Train less senior operators and coordinate activities around the plant and dams.
