Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell is a non-profit organization that builds and renovates affordable homes in partnership with families in need. Our mission is to provide strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter, with the goal of increasing the number of homes built annually from one to five. Current projects include new home construction in Concord, retrofit of a barn into housing units in Westford, and completion of a rehab in Bedford.
Job Overview:
The Site Supervisor / Project Manager plays a vital role in the successful planning and execution of all residential construction projects. Reporting directly to the Director of Construction, this individual will be responsible for coordinating construction activities, supervising volunteers and subcontractors, ensuring safety compliance, maintaining schedules and budgets, and upholding the mission and values of Habitat for Humanity. Volunteer shifts are scheduled Tuesday - Saturday.
Key Responsibilities:
·Train, lead, and motivate volunteers of all skill levels (including beginners), ensuring a positive environment
·Teach volunteers building techniques, proper tool usage and storage, and general construction terms and knowledge
·Provide morning introductions and lead safety demonstrations and ensure safety standards are being followed at all times
·Assess skills of volunteers to determine appropriate task assignments
·Partner Family Engagement: Interact with partner families on-site to educate and empower them throughout the build process as they complete “sweat equity hours”
·Ensure all volunteers leave with more knowledge about Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell, Habitat for Humanity International and our mission to build more affordable homeownership opportunities
·Manage day-to-day site operations for new builds, renovations, and special projects
·Subcontractor Management: Schedule and supervise subcontractors to ensure quality workmanship and timely completion of tasks
·Construction Planning: Work closely with the Director of Construction to develop and manage construction timelines, budgets, and materials procurement
·Quality Control: Monitor work quality and adherence to local building codes, HFH standards, and safety regulations
·Safety Enforcement: Ensure strict compliance with OSHA standards and HFH safety protocols. Maintain site safety documentation
·Site Administration: Maintain daily logs, update project tracking systems, and submit regular progress reports
Critical Repair Program Oversight:
·Partner with Director of Construction and Program Manager to assess upcoming potential repairs and maintain a repair schedule
·Meet with selected families to complete paperwork and assess needed repairs
·Create a project plan for each project with timetable, materials needed, permits, costs and volunteers required
·Partner with Director of Construction and Outreach Coordinator to ensure materials are ordered and volunteers are coordinated for scheduled repairs
·Impact a minimum of four families through repairs annually
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience in residential construction, with supervisory or project management experience
Strong knowledge of local building codes, permit processes, and construction best practices
Experience working with volunteers, non-profits, or community groups preferred
Ability to read blueprints and manage construction budgets and schedules
OSHA 10 or 30 certification required (or willingness to obtain within 60 days)
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools and strong computer literacy required
Valid MA driver's license and reliable transportation required
Experience with construction project management software preferred
CPR and First Aid certification preferred
CSL license preferred
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and perform physical tasks related to construction.
Work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
Comfortable climbing ladders and working at heights.
Salary range for this role will fall in the $75,000 - $85,000 range.
