RW Mercer is seeking a Site Superintendent - General Contracting to lead on-site execution of construction projects in Grand Rapids, MI. You will supervise crews, coordinate with project managers, and ensure work complies with plans, specs, and safety standards.
The role demands strong leadership, subcontractor management, and meticulous scheduling to deliver projects on time and within budget. Travel and extended hours may be required in a dynamic field environment.

The company operates in three distinct areas of construction: petroleum contracting and service, general contracting, and electrical. In each area, R.W. Mercer provides a turn-key approach that includes planning, design, construction, and installation as well as service, monitoring, and maintenance.
A General Construction Superintendent at R.W. Mercer is responsible for the execution of all aspects of installation and construction on-site. Construction of infrastructure requires constant supervision to ensure that the construction is happening as per plan. In addition, there is a need for keeping watch on the construction material on site and further requirements. They are a site superintendent who coordinates and manages all the activities on a construction site.

Working is performed primarily outside with some travel; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, and all types of weather and temperature conditions; exposure to possible hazardous traffic conditions; work and/or walk on various types of surfaces including slippery and uneven surfaces and rough terrain; may be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends.
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a construction environment; walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time; frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, and twist; push, pull, lift and/or carry moderate to heavy amounts of weights; operate assigned equipment and vehicles; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. Digging and working in trenches. Working in confined spaces, from heights, and hot/cold weather conditions.
