Job summary

RW Mercer in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking an experienced carpenter-general foreman to lead framing, siding, drywall, and finish carpentry on commercial projects. You will coordinate crews, communicate with clients, and ensure timely, quality work on site.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, 5–10 years in construction, prior foreman experience preferred, CDL preferred but not required; ability to work extended hours including evenings and weekends.

The company operates in three distinct areas of construction: petroleum contracting and service, general contracting, and electrical. In each area, R.W. Mercer provides a turn-key approach that includes planning, design, construction, and installation as well as service, monitoring, and maintenance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Installation of wooden and metal structures: framing, rafters, joists, and stud work
• Installation of composite siding
• Assist with drywall installation (hang and finish)
• Finish carpentry work

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES:

• Verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with customers and team members

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• High school degree or equivalent
• 5-10 years Construction industry experience preferred
• Previous experience as a Foreman/ Supervisor preferred
