Job summary

Western States Fire Protection is seeking a Site Safety Manager for a single El Paso, TX job site. You will lead the Health and Safety Program, ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies, and coordinate safety efforts with APi Group, Inc. and risk management.

You will conduct inspections, develop training, and maintain records to prevent injuries. The role requires strong communication, field presence about 75% of time, and ability to travel to or reside near El Paso daily.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety, health or related area preferred.
• CHST/ASP/CSP required (alternates may be approved).
• 2+ years of construction safety/risk experience required.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint; BlueBeam Revu PDF preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise the site safety program for a single job site.
• Plan, lead and direct health and safety policies and procedures.
• Communicate safety and risk data to project manager.
• Conduct weekly safety inspections and audits on site.

Site-Specific Safety Manager

The individual in this position is responsible for the direction, coordination and supervision of the Company Health and Safety Program and Policies for a single job site, located in El Paso, TX. This individual will plan, lead, and direct the Health and Safety Policies and Procedures for this job site and execute other assigned duties. This individual communicates all branch safety and risk data to the project manager. This individual must be located in, or willing to commute to El Paso, TX on a daily basis.

The salary range for this position is $40-55/hour, depending on experience.

Requirements:

• Support and believe in our Commitment to Zero and Striving Towards Excellence and Professionalism in Safety (STEPS) efforts, as well as our Driving Without Distractions Initiative
• Work with our parent company APi Group, Inc. and APi Group, Inc. Risk Management Department on investigations, records, reports, claims, incidents and other items.
• Ensure compliance with State and Federal safety regulations and WSFP company safety programs and policies.
• Prevent and mitigate employee injuries and illnesses.
• Assist in accident investigations and return to work programs.
• Participate in Safety Committees.
• Perform multiple job site and facility safety inspections/audits on a weekly basis.
• Prevent accidents, injuries and claims by being visible in the field and walking jobs approximately 75% or more of your time.
• Develop and deliver Safety Training as mandated by Federal, State, Local and Company Programs.
• Must have the ability to anticipate, develop, implement and measure hazard controls and programs.
• Inspire and coach employees to accomplish safety goals.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety and health, risk control or other related areas is preferred
• Relative experience in safety, health, risk control, the fire protection industry / construction may be a supplement for bachelor’s degree preference.
• CHST, ASP, or CSP Required (alternates may be approved if comparable)
• 2+ years of construction safety/risk experience is required
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint as well as BlueBeam Revu PDF is preferred
• Exceptional planning, time-management and follow-through.
• Able to exercise confidentiality and discretion
• Approved OSHA 500 trainer, preferred
• Ability to review, analyze and discuss safety/risk information and/or data
• Ability to work effectively with a team and independently
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and complex situations
• Willing to pass a post-offer drug test, background and reference check

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to develop and deliver engaging training programs.
• Proficiency in using learning management systems (LMS) and other training software.
• Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Outdoor activity may involve walking/trekking in uneven terrain over long distances in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.
• This job requires attending meetings, both in-person and virtually. As well as speaking on the phone with peers, clients, etc. Speaking, hearing and listening are required.
• Ability to visually inspect job sites and perform post-accident investigations. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
