The Site Safety Supervisor will be responsible for providing guidance and facilitating a collaborative approach to site management on the implementation of safety, quality, and proper training to reduce risks and incidents. This role involves monitoring and reporting on safety, quality, and training performance, including providing required training, conducting site inspections, maintaining certifications, reporting, auditing, and recordkeeping.
Responsibilities include:
- Auditing paperwork for proper signatures, duty logs, time records, and documentation completeness.
- Identifying hazards, conducting monthly safety audits, educating employees on PPE, ensuring proper storage and disposal of hazardous materials, maintaining a clean and safe site environment.
- Conducting safety meetings and recording minutes.
- Participating in monthly safety conference calls.
- Making safety and health recommendations to the site manager.
- Reviewing safety plans, hazard communication programs, and MSDS from customers and subcontractors.
- Ensuring PPE availability and correct usage.
- Complying with all company, state, and federal OSHA policies and requirements.
- Building a safety culture with site management and employees.
- Using computers for communication, training, and administrative tasks.
- Completing safety forms and training as assigned.
- Training employees on fall protection, forklift, crane operations, PPE, chemical safety, etc.
- Ensuring compliance with all safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Performing additional duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED.
- At least 2 years of experience in a safety-related role.
- Supervisory and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of ground support equipment (GSE).
- Ability to travel if required.
- Availability to work non-traditional hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in an airport environment.
- OSHA 30-hour course completion.
- Over 3 years of safety and training leadership experience.
- OSHA Course 511 certification.
- Knowledge of equipment repair practices.
Additional Skills and Knowledge:
- Responsibility, problem-solving, customer focus, integrity, organization, communication skills, and ability to work under pressure.
Computer Skills:
Basic computer skills including email and training platforms.
Other Requirements:
- Proficiency in English.
- Ability to obtain an Airport Security badge.
- Valid driver’s license and insurability.
- Compliance with DSUS Drug and Alcohol policy.
Physical Demands:
Varies daily; includes lifting, standing, walking, sitting, handling, reaching, climbing, crawling, squatting, bending, and lifting weights as specified.
Work Environment:
Mix of office and airport environment; may involve exposure to dust, dirt, machinery, temperature changes, heights, and noise; PPE required.
