Job summary

Henderson Scott US is seeking a Site Safety Manager to lead safety programs on NYC construction projects. This full-time role requires enforcing safety on site, delivering orientations, and ensuring compliance with NYC Site Safety Manager licensing, 30HR OSHA, and SST card requirements.

Qualifications

  • Must have NYC Site Safety Manager License.
  • Minimum of three years’ Site Safety experience.
  • Must have 30HR OSHA certification.
  • Must have SST card (62 hours).

Responsibilities

  • Enforce all safety efforts on the project.
  • Provide Safety Orientations to all personnel.
  • Make recommendations concerning the modification, improvement, or removal of hazardous equipment, facilities, or machinery.
  • Daily on-site safety walkthroughs to ensure compliance.
  • Issue disciplinary action for safety non-compliance.
  • Investigate accidents/near misses and complete required paperwork.
  • Maintain all safety-related documentation.
  • Alert managers and employees to hazards of toxic fumes or hazardous substances.

Site Safety Manager

Job type: Full-time

Location: Required travel within NYC -

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce all safety efforts on the project
  • Provide Safety Orientations to all personnel
  • Makes recommendations concerning the modification, improvement, or removal of any company equipment, facilities, or machinery that is hazardous to employee safety or health
  • Daily walkthroughs on site to ensure safety compliance being upheld
  • Issue disciplinary action if safety procedures are not being followed
  • Investigate all accidents/near misses and complete all paperwork requiredli>
  • Maintain all safety related documentation
  • Alert managers and employees to the hazards of working with toxic fumes, dangerous chemicals, and any other hazardous substances in the workplace
Required skills
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Proficiency with programs from Microsoft office such as but not limited: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, and ability to prioritize organize and manage time
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Must have prior safety leadership experience
Education & Experience
  • Must have NYC Site Safety Manager License
  • Must have minimum of three-years' Site Safety experience
  • Must have 30HR OSHA
  • Must have SST card (62 hours)
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting/carrying: Carrying light loads related to field measurement equipment, equipment cases weighing 15 lbs. or less.
  • Dexterity: Ability to type using a keyboard with relative efficiency, ability to make handwritten notes and sketches indoors and outdoors at industrial plant and construction sites at any time of the year.
  • Walking/Climbing: Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
  • Visual Acuity: Ability to discern single line and 3-dimensional computer images representing objects being designed or drafted.
  • Hearing: Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.
  • Physical exertion: Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year. Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.
