Job summary

Akima Global Logistics seeks a Safety Coordinator to ensure a safe, compliant work environment at a U.S. Army contractor site focused on equipment turn-in and military logistics.

You will enforce the site safety plan under OSHA and Army standards, lead incident investigations, and drive training with subcontractors and staff. You will manage safety records, audits, and reporting, while coordinating with the Project Manager and COR.

Qualifications

• Requires 3+ years of safety experience on government, military, or industrial logistics sites.
• Familiarity with OSHA 29 CFR 1910, EM 385-1-1, DA PAM 385-10, and Army site safety practices.
• Experience supporting logistics and equipment turn-in or base operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee site safety and enforce the Safety Plan per OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and Army regs.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify hazards in material handling and equipment movement.
• Ensure compliant storage of hazardous materials (HAZMAT) per EPA and Army guidelines.
• Conduct safety orientations and ongoing training for all personnel and subcontractors.
• Train on PPE usage, forklift/equipment operation, LOTO, and incident reporting.
• Maintain safety records and certifications per requirements.
• Lead investigations of accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
• Report findings and corrective actions to PM and COR; maintain incident logs.
• Perform safety audits and JHAs; track KPIs for leadership and oversight.
• Support government inspections and address safety-related inquiries.
