Job summary

Canon Business Process Services, Inc. in Greenville, SC is seeking a full-time Safety Specialist for an 8-month temporary assignment.

You will develop and implement safety standards, deliver training, and lead interventions to reduce incidents in accordance with OSHA and state/local rules. You will coordinate with Safety, HR, and Operations, conduct new-hire safety orientation, perform incident investigations, and maintain training records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environment, Health & Safety or equivalent work experience.
• Safety Certification preferred (e.g., OSHA 10/30 General Industry, OSHA HAZWOPER, Forklift, 49 CFR/DOT, IATA, IMDG).
• 3-5 years safety experience in warehouse environment.
• Experience with operating Powered Industrial Vehicles, hazardous materials handling, and relevant equipment.
• Experience facilitating safety training and certification programs.
• Experience creating Job Hazard Analysis and related documents.
• Strong MS Office skills and familiarity with web-based Incident Management Systems.
• Excellent writing, coaching, and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Supports Safety governance with policies and compliance to OSHA/State/Local/Company/Client rules.
• Collaborates with Safety, HR, and Operations to drive safety excellence.
• Coordinate and facilitate safety new hire orientation, training and certifications.
• Conduct incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Create and implement Job Hazard Analysis, inspections, and audit checklists.
• Develop and execute a site safety improvement plan.
• Coordinate onsite safety training and Train-the-Trainer programs.
• Maintain training/certification records and schedules.
• Leverage Incident Management System to monitor safety trends at the location.
• Develop safety metrics to measure progress and performance.
• Assist with counseling and documentation of safety performance issues.
• Perform other HR/Safety duties and special projects as requested.
