Qualifications

Work Location: This is a 100% field-based travel position with rotation based on company project sites, therefore you can live anywhere in the US (preferably along the Gulf or East coast). Employees do not get to choose project sites or work location.

Travel: Must be able to travel where skills are needed/requested by the company.

Provision: Daily meal allowance ($52.00 per workday), lodging, and transportation are provided by the company (company credit card issued).

The Opportunity: Reporting to the Vice President, Health, Safety & Environmental, the Site Safety & Health Officer will guide and support the Project Management Team in all aspects of the company's Incident & Injury Free Safety initiative.

Responsibilities:

  1. Implement the project site safety, health, and environmental requirements outlined in the Company's Safety Management Program.
  2. Guide and support the Project Management Team in all aspects of the company's Incident & Injury Free Safety initiative.
  3. Be fully familiar with contract specifications and ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental issues.
  4. Conduct daily inspections to observe and guide personnel in safe work practices and methods.
  5. Participate in project progress meetings and stay updated on task scheduling to discuss potential hazards and plan safe work practices.
  6. Assist and guide Site Supervisors in the preparation and execution of Weekly Toolbox Safety Meetings.
  7. Prepare weekly safety reports summarizing activities, training, near misses, and incidents.
  8. Assist Site Management with new hire safety orientations, walk-arounds, and the Green Hat training program.
  9. Participate in pre-shift meetings and guide crews in preparing Job Safety Analyses.
  10. Liaise with the Division Safety, Health & Environmental Manager to address safety, health, and environmental compliance issues.

Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred in Safety Management, Safety Engineering, or Construction.
  2. Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations for construction (veteran or civilian).
  3. Ability to research and interpret federal, state, and local safety and environmental laws and regulations.
  4. Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety (veteran or civilian).
  5. OSHA 30-hour training certification required.
  6. Knowledge of EM385-1-1/US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) preferred.
  7. Good oral and written communication skills.
  8. Proficient in computer skills.
  9. Valid driver’s license required (MVR will be checked at onboarding).
  10. Ability to obtain TWIC.
  11. Extensive field-based travel (100%) required, domestic now with possible international future; must work a schedule of 17 days on and 11 days off.
