Job summary

UMC in Boise, Idaho is seeking a Safety Coordinator to develop and manage safety programs ensuring a safe and compliant work environment for all employees. You will partner with leadership to implement policies, measure outcomes, and coordinate essential safety trainings.

  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain safety policies and procedures with leadership.
  • Assess effectiveness of safety initiatives and recommend improvements.
  • Enhance safety programs including emergency preparedness and risk management.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce workplace injuries and health risks.
  • Share environmental and safety information across the organization.
  • Monitor and report safety metrics to stakeholders.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with laws and standards.
  • Evaluate safety training programs and update as needed.
  • Support New Hire Safety Orientation.
  • Coordinate scheduling for OSHA 30, OSHA 500, First Aid and other trainings.
  • Maintain records of safety certifications and CEUs.
  • Perform other safety and compliance duties as assigned.

Paid Time Off

Eligible employees begin accruing PTO on their date of hire. PTO combines vacation and sick leave, starting at 15 days per year for full-time employees.

Position Description

Starting Hourly Wage: $38.46 - $52.88/hour; depending on experience

Location: Boise, Idaho

Classification: Non-exempt

Position Overview:

The Safety Coordinator supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of safety programs to promote a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Partner with leadership to develop and maintain safety policies and procedures.
  2. Assess the effectiveness of safety initiatives and recommend improvements.
  3. Contribute to enhancements of safety programs, including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, and risk management.
  4. Identify opportunities to reduce workplace injuries, incidents, and health risks.
  5. Share environmental and safety-related information across the organization.
  6. Monitor and report safety metrics to relevant stakeholders.
  7. Conduct audits and reviews to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
  8. Evaluate safety training programs and recommend updates or improvements.
  9. Support delivery of New Hire Safety Orientation as needed.
  10. Coordinate scheduling for safety-related training such as OSHA 30, OSHA 500, First Aid, and other required sessions.
  11. Maintain accurate records of completed safety certifications and continuing education units (CEUs).
  12. Perform other safety and compliance duties as assigned.
Position Requirements

Preferred Education and Experience:

  4. Advanced safety training or certification preferred.

Required Licensing and Other Certifications:

  1. Maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
