Job summary

Mass. Electric Construction Co., a subsidiary of Kiewit, seeks a Safety Specialist to implement and audit the Site Specific Safety Plan in the field and to support the Project Safety Manager.

You will verify work is performed safely, assist with corrective actions, and contribute to a proactive safety culture across the MEC Transportation District. You will help maintain OSHA/MSHA compliance, assist in incident investigations, and provide safety training to craft and staff, ensuring adherence to

Qualifications

• OSHA 30/500/510 certifications preferred or required.
• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of construction safety and current OSHA requirements.
• Certification as Safety Professional or EMT preferred.
• Working knowledge of Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development, review, updating, and communication of the Site Specific Safety Plan to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with craft daily to promote safety program buy‑in and ownership.
• Enforce Stop Work responsibilities to ensure policy and plan adherence.
• Plan and problem‑solve with field operations using leading indicator trends.
• Support safety training on policies, OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, and client requirements.
• Maintain project files in OSHA/MSHA compliance and incident records.
• Assist with first aid and coordination with EMS/clinics.
• Conduct daily hazard inspections and drive corrective actions with teams.
• Review work plans and packs prior to start of work.
