Position Description

CGI has an immediate need for a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our team.   • This position is located at a client site in Reston, VA. A hybrid working model is acceptable.

Your future duties and responsibilities

We are looking for a seasoned and innovative Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in cloud platforms, DevSecOps, automation, and modern software development practices. You will be responsible for designing and maintaining robust systems, leading incident response efforts, and driving continuous improvement in system performance and reliability. This is a high-impact role that requires strong technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role

  • 5 + years of relevant experience
  • Solid hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Comfortable working with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
  • A strong grasp of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines, including tools like Jenkins, GitLab, Docker, and artifact repositories.
  • Proficient in at least one programming or scripting language—Python, Java, Node.js, Bash, or PowerShell are all great.
  • Familiar with monitoring and observability tools like CloudWatch, Splunk, Dynatrace, or OpenTelemetry.
  • Understands and applies security best practices, including IAM, RBAC, and vulnerability management.
  • Experience designing and supporting microservices and APIs, with a focus on resilience and fault tolerance.
  • Experience with chaos engineering and tools like AWS FIS or Chaos Toolkit
  • Comfortable managing and tuning databases—whether relational or NoSQL (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Oracle, Redshift).
  • Has worked in production support environments, including on-call rotations and incident response.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with AI/ML tools, performance testing, or event-driven architectures.

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $67,300.00 - $137,100.00.
