Job summary

KeyBank is seeking a Resiliency Engineer to design, build, and improve reliability across on-prem, hybrid, and cloud environments. The role combines coding, automation, and orchestration to ensure recoverability and live-recovery readiness.

The ideal candidate will work across application, infrastructure, architecture, and business teams, developing self-healing patterns and measurable SRE metrics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field—or equivalent work experience.
• Demonstrated experience in reliability engineering, DevOps, infrastructure, or technology operations.
• Hands-on coding and automation ability (Python, Bash, PowerShell) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible).
• Working knowledge of both on-premises infrastructure and public cloud platforms (GCP/Azure).
• Understanding of high-availability design: redundancy, replication, failover, load balancing.
• Strong facilitation, analytical, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and code automation that reduces operational toil and builds auditable failover workflows.
• Develop and maintain IaC, scripts, and pipelines (Python, Bash, PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible).
• Build self-healing patterns and automated validation to confirm recoverability.
• Partner with teams to assess architecture for reliability and recoverability.
• Define SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets for critical services.
• Plan and execute disaster recovery tests and chaos experiments to expose weaknesses.
• Facilitate resiliency reviews and cross-team recovery walkthroughs; produce documentation.
