Job summary

Geotab is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to provide escalated engineering support, maintain production servers, and coordinate restoration of services. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, strong troubleshooting, and a proactive approach to monitoring and reliability.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in a similar role, a related degree, and experience with PowerShell, Python, SQL, and Linux.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years experience in Server Operations/DevOps/SRE or a similar role.
• Post-secondary Diploma/Degree specialization in Computer Science, Electrical, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with a systematic problem-solving approach and experience with PowerShell, Python, SQL, and Linux-based systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage across all levels of the organization and communicate technical solutions effectively.
• Highly organized with strong analytical skills, able to manage multiple tasks and respond to fast-changing priorities under pressure.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, technical competence in Google Suite, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, flat organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide escalated engineering support for core software applications and production servers.
• Maintain production servers and facilitate restoration of normal service operations.
• Collaborate with development teams and other organizational levels.
• Develop and implement automation tools and frameworks to streamline routine tasks.
• Conduct system tests for security, performance, and reliability.
• Assist in long-term planning to ensure server capacity meets current and future requirements.
• Recommend design enhancements for reliability, security, and processes.
• Maintain documentation for areas of expertise.
• Monitor servers to ensure high availability and SLA adherence.
• Plan and execute routine maintenance tasks.
