Job summary

Harper Construction Recruitment is seeking an experienced Night Site Manager for a Carlisle trenching project, overseeing groundworks and coordinating site operatives during night shifts from 7:00pm to 7:00am. You will ensure safety, maintain records, run toolbox talks, and liaise with the project team to keep works on programme and secure the site at the end of each shift.

Dates cover several blocks in September–October 2026; applicants should hold SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications and

Qualifications

• Previous Site Manager experience.
• Strong groundworks/civils and trenching experience.
• SMSTS certification.
• First Aid certification.
• CSCS card.
• Good knowledge of health & safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Managing and coordinating site operatives and subcontractors.
• Overseeing trenching and associated groundworks.
• Ensuring works are completed safely and to programme.
• Carrying out site inductions and toolbox talks where required.
• Monitoring health & safety standards throughout the shift.
• Maintaining site records and reporting progress.
• Liaising with the project team regarding progress and any issues.

We are currently looking for an experienced Site Manager to cover a series of night shifts on a project in Carlisle, overseeing trenching works on site.

Location: Carlisle

Hours: 7:00pm - 7:00am

Shift: Night work

Dates Required

• 21/09/2026 - 25/09/2026
• 28/09/2026 - 02/10/2026
• 12/10/2026 - 16/10/2026

Duties

The Site Manager will be responsible for overseeing the trenching works throughout the night shift, including:

• Managing and coordinating site operatives and subcontractors
• Overseeing trenching and associated groundworks
• Ensuring works are completed safely and to programme
• Carrying out site inductions and toolbox talks where required
• Monitoring health & safety standards throughout the shift
• Maintaining site records and reporting progress
• Liaising with the project team regarding progress and any issues
• Ensuring the site is left safe and secure at the end of each shift
