Job summary

Durham County Council is seeking a Site Manager to oversee construction projects in our Strategic Construction Team. You will lead operational staff, supervisors and subcontractors to deliver safely, on time and to high standards.

The role requires NVQ3, SMSTS and CSCS, with proven supervisory and management experience in large public or private sector projects. You will maintain records, monitor costs and ensure compliance with safety and client requirements.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in building/construction services is required.
• A valid 5-day SMSTS qualification is required.
• A CSCS Management Card is required.
• Experience managing multi-disciplinary projects in a large org.

Responsibilities

• Manage and organise assigned operational staff, internal teams and external subcontractors.
• Take overall responsibility for multi-disciplined projects, including services delivered by other Divisions and Foremen.
• Ensure safe systems of work are in place and that staff, contractors and works are regularly monitored.
• Maintain accurate project records, including job records, service sheets, timesheets and certification.
• Ensure costs are accurately recorded and claims are prepared in a timely manner with the Construction Team and Business Support staff.
• Deliver financially successful, quality-assured, safe and timely project works alongside other Building & Facilities Maintenance staff.
• Ensure projects meet the requirements of the Construction Manager and customers.
