Job summary

ROCKWOOL is hiring a Site Manager for our Wallula, Washington project. This on-site role oversees daily construction and installation activities, ensuring safety, on-time delivery, and budget adherence across complex, multi-contractor operations.

The role requires a degree in Construction Management or Engineering and 20+ years of site experience, including at least 10 years in a leadership capacity on heavy industrial projects. Strong leadership and cross-functional coordination are essential.

  • Strong communication and leadership in international environments.
  • Extensive experience in heavy industrial environments with focus on site execution.
  • Proven track record installing process equipment and coordinating concurrent site activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary teams on active sites.
  • Strong understanding of site logistics, sequencing and safety compliance.
  • Hands-on, proactive leadership driving progress and meeting timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Track site progress and readiness to keep schedule, including environmental compliance.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to drive safety, quality and efficient execution.

Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced temporary (1 ½-2 years contract) Site Manager to join our construction team at our new WAL6 facility in Wallula, Washington. This role is responsible for overseeing daily operations on-site, both construction and installation activities, to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

The site manager acts as the primary on-ground authority in reference to the project director, coordinating activities, managing the site facilities, and enforcing safety regulations.

What You Bring
  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent background
  • 20+ years of engineering and site experience, with at least 10 years serving in a Site Manager or similar site leadership role.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, preferably experience from an international environment
  • Extensive experience in heavy industrial environments, with a strong focus on site execution and coordination.
  • Proven track record managing installation of process equipment and overseeing multiple, concurrent site activities.

What You Will Be Doing

The site manager oversees daily operations on-site—both construction and installation activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the site organization with direct responsibility for safety, site logistics and operation of site facilities
  • Manage day-to-day activities on site
  • Enable efficient execution of both construction and installation works:
    • Construction will be led by our construction manager who has oversight over the General Contractor
    • Installation of production equipment will be led by a team of project managers with installation contractors for each area
  • Communicate and coordinate closely with contractors and suppliers, particularly for high-risk activities in shared work areas.
  • Ensure all contractors maintain safe working conditions and proactively manage work sequencing to avoid conflicts.
  • Enforce compliance with ROCKWOOL safety standards, site-specific safety plans, and applicable regulations.
  • Oversee implementation of the site work permit system across all contractors and suppliers.
  • Manage and coordinate installation equipment (e.g., cranes, lifts) to ensure availability and proper use.
  • Monitor site progress and readiness for installation, ensuring activities stay on schedule.
  • Oversee site-related environmental considerations and ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Manage site logistics scope and budget, supporting cost-effective project delivery.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders (Project team, Group functions and Operational team/End user) to drive safety, quality, and efficient project execution.
