Job description

ROCKWOOL is seeking a Mechanical Engineer/Project Engineer to join our Group Technology team. The position requires 60% travel, both internationally and nationally, and the ability to relocate for extended periods to project sites. We are unable to provide sponsorship for this position.

Responsibilities
  • Take full responsibility for project execution of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection utilities.
  • Ensure supply strategy, dimensioning, redundancy, and back‑up considerations for all utilities and process equipment.
  • Work with design, installation, commissioning, and running‑in of major projects, including main utility supply strategy, tank installations, pump supply, and fire protection in compliance with FLPM (Fire & Loss Prevention Manual).
  • Communicate and supervise suppliers/contractors to place orders and ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Document and archive all reporting following company directives and Group Technology rules.
  • Travel extensively inside and outside North America for project execution, supplier visits, and coordination.
  • Participate in budgeting and development of tender materials for suppliers.
  • Represent the company while adhering to the code of conduct and values.
  • Collaborate with other departments—environment, safety, MMRs—to incorporate their expertise into solutions.
Scope of Utilities
  • Compressed air, water (industrial, machine cooling, sanitary, potable, treatment - reverse osmosis).
  • Fire safety supply, rainwater collection and re‑use, erosion & sedimentation storm water management.
  • Oxygen and CO₂, natural gas, building heat (gas), HVAC.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in site installation, mechanical design, machine construction, or related areas.
  • Experience with design specifications and 3D modelling using Inventor or similar software.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to travel nationally and internationally 60% of the time.
  • Experience working at temporary relocation sites over extended periods.
  • Adherence to confidentiality of proprietary processes.
  • Preference for candidates with smith, mechanic, or other craftsman expertise.
