Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Regional Manager, responsible for planning and implementing the Health Care Unit program to ensure quality health care services.
Responsibilities
- Oversee outpatient and infirmary services from an administrative perspective.
- Develop policies and procedures in compliance with contractual, Department of Corrections, and national standards.
- Provide orientation, in-services, and ongoing education for staff.
- Coordinate staffing needs with the Staffing Department and notify the Regional Manager of staffing variances.
- Manage the budget for the Health Care Unit, striving to stay within financial limits.
- Ensure staffing hours comply with Schedule E and obtain necessary approvals for variances.
- Enforce policies and procedures and ensure staff compliance.
- Understand and operate within the collective bargaining agreement.
- Implement and maintain an Infection Control Program.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports as required.
- Serve as manager on call for administrative needs.
- Participate in Quality Assurance activities and ensure accreditation standards are met.
- Maintain appropriate staffing schedules and handle schedule adjustments.
- Act as liaison between staff and IDOC, coordinating services and maintaining visibility.
- Evaluate staff performance and conduct appraisals timely.
- Engage with community organizations as appropriate.
- Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and handle disciplinary matters.
- Respond to medical grievances and maintain confidentiality of records.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Appropriate licensure and CPR certification if holding a clinical license.
- Graduate of an accredited program; Associate or Bachelor degree preferred.
- Two years supervisory experience in correctional or healthcare setting preferred.
