Job description

The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall performance, quality, productivity, safety, and capability of manufacturing, light assembly, warehousing, receiving, inventory management, and shipping operations. This role leads a high-mix, high-volume, build-to-order operation, ensuring customer requirements are fulfilled accurately and on time while maintaining operational efficiency, product quality, and cost objectives.

The Operations Manager ensures that effective processes, equipment, systems, documentation, and personnel are in place to support business objectives and drive continuous improvement across all operational functions. This position collaborates closely with Sales, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Leadership to align production capacity, labor resources, material availability, and customer demand.

Job Duties
  • Lead daily manufacturing, assembly, warehousing, inventory, receiving, and shipping operations in a high-mix, build-to-order environment.
  • Manage and develop employees through coaching, training, scheduling, performance management, and enforcement of company policies and procedures.
  • Drive operational performance by implementing strategies that improve safety, quality, productivity, delivery, inventory accuracy, and cost efficiency.
  • Coordinate production, warehouse, and fulfillment activities to meet customer demand and ensure accurate, on-time order delivery.
  • Optimize labor utilization, production capacity, workflow, and resource allocation to support changing business needs.
  • Oversee inventory management, material flow, receiving, storage, picking, packing, fulfillment, and outbound shipping operations.
  • Monitor and analyze KPIs and operational metrics to identify trends, eliminate waste, improve throughput, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Purchasing, Inventory Control, and Customer Service to ensure material availability and efficient order fulfillment.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards, including SOPs, regulatory requirements, and Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Support financial objectives through labor planning, budgeting, capital expenditure planning, variance analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Lead workplace safety initiatives and foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary on-site operations leader, managing team performance, development, succession planning, and cross-functional communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
Additional Qualifications
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing, production, distribution, or warehouse operations.
  • Experience in a high-mix, high-volume, build-to-order environment.
  • Experience managing light assembly or production teams.
  • Facility consolidation and/or relocation — experience planning and executing facility consolidations, transfers, expansions, while maintaining business continuity.
  • New production / operational setup — experience establishing new production lines, work cells, equipment, processes, workflows, and supporting infrastructure.
  • New product launches — experience supporting product introductions from operational readiness through production ramp-up, including labor, equipment, materials, process documentation, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Space utilization and layout optimization — experience evaluating and improving warehouse/production layouts, material flow, storage density, capacity, and overall facility utilization.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control, material flow, production scheduling, and fulfillment operations.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience utilizing ERP, WMS, and production planning systems.
  • Proven ability to manage KPIs including safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery.
