Job description

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing facility. This includes leading a team of production and maintenance staff, optimizing processes, ensuring quality control, and driving continuous improvement to meet production goals, safety standards, and customer expectations. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and experienced leader with a strong background in manufacturing processes, lean principles, and people management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Production & Planning:
  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demand and optimize resource utilization.
  • Monitor production output, analyze data, and adjust operations to ensure targets are met.
  • Manage inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods to minimize waste and ensure a smooth production flow.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and products.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of production supervisors, operators, and maintenance staff.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, and identify training and development opportunities for team members.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes safety, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Oversee workforce planning, including scheduling, timekeeping, and managing staffing levels.
  • Process Improvement & Efficiency:
  • Identify and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and increase productivity.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen) to eliminate waste and optimize workflows.
  • Analyze production data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects and initiatives across the facility.
  • Quality & Safety:
  • Ensure all manufacturing processes and products meet established quality standards and specifications.
  • Implement and enforce company safety policies and procedures to create a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with quality and safety regulations.
  • Investig any quality deviations or safety incidents, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintenance & Equipment:
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of all manufacturing equipment and machinery.
  • Develop and manage a preventative maintenance schedule to minimize downtime.
  • Work with maintenance staff to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues quickly and effectively.
  • Reporting & Communication:
  • Generate and present regular reports on production performance, efficiency, and key metrics to senior management.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including sales, engineering, and finance, to ensure alignment of operational goals.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-7+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a management or supervisory role.
  • Proven track record of success in leading and managing a manufacturing team.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, production planning, and quality control.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret production data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in using ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
