Job summary

Vertex is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Geologist for its Due Diligence group. The role involves performing Phase 1 and Phase 2 assessments with frequent travel to client project locations in the region, including the Houston area.

You will conduct field inspections, document conditions, and prepare reports for project stakeholders. Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of related experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work outdoors on active sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of work experience.
• Preferred construction inspection/field services experience.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a field-based outdoor environment.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel daily to project sites.
• Commitment to workplace safety and willingness to obtain OSHA 10.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site construction inspections and verify work aligns with plans, specs, and contracts.
• Monitor and document construction activities, materials, and progress.
• Maintain detailed field diaries and photographic documentation.
• Track contractor progress and identify delays or deviations.
• Prepare accurate field reports and communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Travel daily to active construction sites within the region.
