Job summary

The Sherwin-Williams Company is seeking a Human Resources Manager for our Illinois facility. You will plan, coordinate, and direct HR functions, support leaders with people decisions across employment life cycle, and oversee recruiting, onboarding and performance management.

This role partners with site leadership on strategic planning, drives an inclusive, safe work environment, and aligns people initiatives with business goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher required or four years HR experience as alternative.
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
  • Experience with HRIS/ATS and timekeeping systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with leaders to develop strategies and provide guidance in people-related decisions.
  • Coach and consult the management team to create an engaging work environment.
  • Implement policies and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal law.
  • Conduct investigations and provide corrective action recommendations.

  • Engage with community organizations to diversify talent pipelines.
  • Drive succession planning to ensure leadership depth.
  • Use data and trends to guide site engagement and action plans.
  • Coordinate with HR functions like Workers' Compensation, Leave, Benefits, etc.

Additional Information

The Human Resources Manager plans, coordinates, and directs the human resources functions at the facility and supports leaders in making people-related decisions in every aspect of the employment life cycle. They oversee the recruiting, selection, and onboarding of new staff; support training, performance management, and corrective action processes for employees; partner with facility leadership on strategic planning; and serve as a link between the facilities' management and its employees. This position develops effective Employee Relations strategies that foster a safe, positive, productive, and engaging work environment. The Human Resources Manager ensures the people initiatives are aligned with the goals of the business while driving an inclusive and positive work environment.


Shift

Shift: This position primarily works a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, the incumbent is expected to support all shifts at the South Holland and Homewood site as business needs require, including occasional evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.


5% Travel


This position is also eligible for bonus and long-term incentive compensation awards based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company's applicable plans.

  • Conduct thorough and well-documented investigations and provide recommendations for corrective action

  • Build a high-performance workforce by recruiting, onboarding, engaging, and retaining talent

  • Actively build relationships with organizations and the local community to create a diverse pipeline of qualified talent

  • Drive succession planning to ensure the site has a talent bench for key leadership positions

  • Use data, roundtables, and trends to create a positive employee relations strategy, including creating and executing the annual site engagement action plan

  • Maintain an effective Affi…?

  • Act as the site's liaison with different departments including Worker's Compensation, Compensation, Employee Relations, Loss Prevention, Leave of Absence, and Benefits, to help resolve employee questions

  • Maintain accurate employee data and records within HRIS, ATS, timekeeping system, and document repositories

  • Execute the Company human resources initiatives and goals at the site level


Minimum Requirements


  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future

  • Must have a bachelor's degree or higher or have at least four (4) years of work experience in human resources

  • Must have at least three (3) years of work experience in human resources


Preferred Qualifications


  • Have a bachelor's degree or higher in Human Resources, Human Resources Management, Organizational/Industrial Psychology, or Business Management

  • Have a Professional in Human Resources (\"PHR\") or Senior Professional in Human Resources (\"SPHR\") certification

  • Have prior work experience ensuring compliance with laws and regulations

  • Have prior work experience using an HRIS and/or ATS

  • Have prior work experience maintaining an Affi…?

  • Have prior work experience maintaining and analyzing data

  • Have prior work experience using timekeeping systems

  • Have at least one (1) year of experience working in a manufacturing or distribution facility
