Job summary

UFP Technologies, Inc. seeks a Site Controller to lead finance and accounting operations at its Chicopee, MA site, overseeing general ledger, monthly closings, cost and inventory accounting, and financial analysis to drive performance.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Accounting with 10+ years in progressive manufacturing finance positions, ERP experience (Epicor), and strong Excel skills. This is an on-site, 5-days-a-week role with potential for a hands-on, detail-oriented leader.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a minimum of 10 years of directly related experience with progressive responsibility.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience managing personnel.
• Manufacturing industry and inventory / cost accounting experience.
• Epicor ERP systems experience a plus.
• Strong Excel skills required.
• Must be self-starter that can function independently with little direct supervision.
• Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability and willingness to work extended hours, especially during month-end closing.
• Must be able to work on-site 5 days a week at the Chicopee, MA facility.

Responsibilities

• Maintains accounting system, ensuring the general ledger structure is adhered to consistently, all data is preserved, and all internal controls are in place.
• Manages and supports all aspects of monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings, including detailed account reconciliations.
• Manages day-to-day activities of the financial and accounting team members to ensure timely, accurate, and well-controlled performance.
• Manages the inventory accounting process, including supporting site with inventory / costing issues, and advising on proper procedures.
• Oversees site banking function.
• Supports site payroll function.
• Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources for continuous improvement in meeting deadlines.
• Ensures compliance with internal controls as directed by Internal Audit.
• Analyzes all balance sheet accounts monthly and ensures integrity and accuracy.
• Analyzes operational performance and provides P&L analysis to inform site leadership.
• Provides on-demand financial and cost analysis to support decision making and explains variances.
• Collaborates with operations management to forecast and model future performance.
• Assists with budgeting, variances, and forecasting.
• Analyzes actual vs. standard material, labor and overhead for targeted SKU’s / product categories.
• Prepares monthly detailed reporting package for Corporate Accounting.
• Works with Corporate Accounting to ensure US GAAP compliance.
• Supports detailed schedules for financial disclosures.
