Job summary

Vaco seeks an Assistant Controller in Suffield, CT to lead day-to-day accounting at the site, partnering with the Controller and VP of Finance. This on-site role focuses on month-end close, financial reporting, cost analysis, and strengthening internal controls in a SOX-compliant environment.

You will own manufacturing cost performance, inventory processes, and collaborate with shared services on AP while supporting audits and process improvements for efficiency and cost reduction.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of accounting and/or audit experience.
• Manufacturing industry experience required.
• Exposure to cost accounting and inventory.
• Experience with month-end close and financial reporting.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and SOX compliance.
• High attention to detail with strong analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger and journal entries
• Lead month-end close and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting
• Perform cost analysis and drive visibility into manufacturing performance
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls in a SOX-compliant environment
• Support inventory processes including physical counts and cycle counts
• Manage account reconciliations and intercompany transactions
• Oversee fixed assets (PP&E and tooling) accounting
• Partner with shared services on AP processes
• Assist with audits (internal, external, and corporate)
• Identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and cost reduction
