Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Site Engineer to contribute to ongoing construction projects in South Africa. The role involves providing technical and engineering support on site, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.

You will work with the site manager and project team to tackle technical challenges and progress building and infrastructure projects in the Eastern Cape.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of site engineering experience.
• Proficiency in site surveying techniques and equipment.
• Knowledge of construction materials and methods.
• Familiarity with CAD software is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage engineering aspects on site.
• Ensure activities comply with design specifications and quality standards.
• Conduct site surveys, setting out, and monitor progress.
• Prepare and review technical reports, method statements, and plans.
• Coordinate with contractors and site personnel to resolve issues.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a competent and motivated Site Engineer to contribute to their ongoing construction projects in East London . You will be responsible for providing technical and engineering support on site, ensuring that construction activities are carried out in accordance with design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations. This role requires a solid understanding of engineering principles, site surveying, and construction methodologies. The ideal candidate will work closely with the site manager and project team to overcome technical challenges and ensure the successful progression of building and infrastructure projects in the Eastern Cape . This role offers a blend of site-based work and potential for off-site planning and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage various engineering aspects of construction projects on site.
• Ensure construction activities comply with engineering design, specifications, and quality standards.
• Conduct site surveys, setting out, and monitoring construction progress.
• Prepare and review technical reports, method statements, and construction plans.
• Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and other site personnel to resolve technical issues.
• Implement and monitor site safety procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
• Assist in managing project documentation, including drawings, RFI's, and site instructions.

Requirements

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in site engineering or a similar role within the construction industry.
• Proficiency in site surveying techniques and the use of relevant surveying equipment.
• Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and engineering principles.
• Familiarity with construction software and CAD is advantageous.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly on site.
