Job summary

Amazon is seeking a dedicated Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Manager for our Bondurant, IA site to directly impact associate well-being and drive operational excellence. The role leads the Global WHS Program implementation and bridges safety requirements with operational success.

Amazon seeks a dedicated Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Manager to directly impact associate well‑being and drive operational excellence. The WHS Manager will be the site’s safety champion, leading the Global WHS Program implementation and bridging safety requirements with operational success.

Key responsibilities include leading safety compliance efforts, conducting comprehensive risk assessments and site audits, analyzing incident data to target improvements, and managing the first‑aid and emergency response program. The role requires building relationships with Operations leadership, influencing positive change, and translating safety data into actionable insights to support productivity while protecting associates.

Core Impact Areas

Safety Leadership & Innovation – Transform safety culture through leadership and innovative solutions, drive continuous improvement, leverage technology and data analytics to implement preventive safety measures, and measure performance against WHS policies.

Strategic Partnership & Influence – Build partnerships with Operations leadership, use data analysis to influence positive change, oversee recordkeeping, workplace organization, and WHS training programs.

Additional Job Elements
  • Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
  • Stand or walk for up to 12 hours during shifts
  • Work in an environment where the noise level varies, subject to variable temperatures and weather (delivery stations include outside loading departments)
  • Continuously climb and descend stairs (applies to sites with stairs)
  • Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist emergency response at the site
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience
  • 3+ years of increasing responsibilities in WHS and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations
  • 3+ years of increasing responsibilities in people and performance management, or 2+ years of Amazon Safety (blue badge/FTE) experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Distribution Center or Manufacturing EHS experience with a mix of exempt and non‑exempt employees at a site of at least 250 people
  • Master’s degree
  • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment
  • Experience in a fast‑paced, dynamic organization
  • Certified Safety Professional
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with site leaders
  • Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem‑solving ability
