Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a Site Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to design, implement, and manage safety, health, and environmental programs at the site level. You will ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulations while promoting a proactive safety culture to minimize risks and environmental impact.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Experience: 5–7 years of EHS leadership experience, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Certification: CSP/ASP/CHMM or similar certification is highly desirable.
  • Technical Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of OSHA (1910/1926) and EPA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with DOE, OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory agencies (e.g., DOT, NFPA, local fire department). Maintain necessary permits and submit required reports.
  • Safety Programs Development: Create, update, and manage on-site EHS policies, procedures, and manuals, including HAZCOM, LOTO, Confined Space, and Industrial Hygiene.
  • Audits & Inspections: Conduct regular facility inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead thorough incident investigations, near-miss reporting, and root cause analysis to prevent recurrence and share learnings across the company.
  • Training & Education: Design and deliver comprehensive safety training for employees, contractors, and visitors, ensuring compliance with mandatory training requirements.
  • Safety Culture Leadership: Actively promote a culture of safety through coaching, behavior-based initiatives, and engaging employees in hazard recognition.
  • Waste & Environmental Management: Manage on-site hazardous waste storage, disposal, and compliance (RCRA) and minimize the company's environmental footprint.
  • Contractor Management: Oversee the safety practices of suppliers and contractors on site.
