Job summary

The Y in Central Maryland seeks a Head Start Site Director to oversee clustered Y Head Start centers and public school sites. You will supervise Head Start Teachers, Assistant Teachers, and support staff, ensuring day-to-day operations, OCC licensing compliance, and Head Start program standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in early learning settings preferred.
  • Knowledge of OCC regulations and Head Start Program Performance Standards preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee Head Start operations across multiple sites.
  • Lead program implementation and ensure licensing compliance.
  • Engage families and build partnerships to support child outcomes.
  • Coordinate communication and service delivery across teams.
  • Maintain records and prepare program reports.
  • Supervise staff including HR functions and performance management.

Position Summary

This position serves as a Head Start Site Director for clustered Y Head Start centers, as well as Y Head Start sites located in Public Schools. The Head Start Site Director supervises Head Start Teachers, Assistant Head Start Teachers, Resource Aides, Food Service Personnel, Drivers, and Substitute teachers. Head Start Site Directors are primarily responsible for the overall management and day-to-day operations, including OCC/Child Care Licensing compliance and Head Start Program Performance Standards. The Head Start Site Director collaborates with other Y team members to ensure high-quality, integrated comprehensive services are implemented consistently. This position is chiefly responsible for the following core functions and performs other tasks as needed:

  • Program Governance and Leadership
Education
  • Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Studies, Child Development, Human Development, Human Services, or a related field.
Experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in an early learning center is preferred.
  • Knowledge of OCC regulations and HSPPS preferred.
  • Management of multi-center locations.
  • ECERS and ITERS preferred
  • Knowledge of Computer Applications
  • Valid driver’s license
Certifications - earn and maintain
  • CPR and First Aid
  • CLASS Reliability
  • 45-Hour Director’s Certification
  • 90-Hour Certification, if the degree is not in a related field
