Site Coordinator II (Harlem YMCA)

Location: Harlem YMCA, 180 West 135th Street, New York, NY 10030

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children by providing close supervision of all activities.
  • Manage day‑to‑day operations of the Y Afterschool and Y Core programs.
  • Maintain accurate program documentation (participant files, staff files, YS.net data entry, incident reports, accidents, behavior, attendance, sign‑in/sign‑out sheets, licensing requirements).
  • Plan, create, and implement weekly lesson plans.
  • Observe and assess individual needs of children and handle student‑related issues.
  • Support parents/guardians in finding referrals to proper agencies for evaluations and remediation of children with special needs.
  • Monitor and update required staff training attendance and certifications.
  • Ensure supplies and equipment are available and kept safe.
  • Fiscal contract management.
  • Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces diversity.
  • Create and maintain a strength‑based, youth‑focused atmosphere sensitive to learning, emotional, or behavioral differences.
  • Serve as a positive role model for participants.
  • Understand and communicate the YMCA’s core values and program goals to participants and caregivers.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and guardians through regular communication about strengths and growth.
  • Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings, and special events.
  • Adhere to Department of Health, YMCA of Greater New York, and funder standards, expectations, and regulations.
Desired Skills & Experience
  • College degree in a related field—required.
  • One to two years of experience working with youth.
  • Current CPR/First Aid/RTE certifications—preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, and comfort working with diverse youth and adults.
  • Availability Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
