Job summary

The Northeast Bronx YMCA is seeking a Site Coordinator to lead the afterschool and core programs at PS111. You will supervise staff, ensure safety, and maintain program documentation to meet licensing requirements.

You will build strong relationships with families, school partners, and community members while delivering a high-quality, inclusive program that supports learning and growth for youth.

Qualifications

  • College degree in a related field required.
  • 1–2 years of experience working with youth.
  • CPR/First Aid or RTE certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure health, safety, and well-being of children in the program.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of Y Afterschool and Y Core programs.
  • Maintain accurate program documentation (files, data entry, incident/accident reports, behavior reports, attendance).
  • Plan and implement weekly lesson plans.
  • Observe and assess individual needs and address issues.
  • Support referrals to proper agencies for evaluations and remediation of special needs.
  • Ensure staff training attendance and certifications are up to date.
  • Promote inclusive, welcoming environment for all participants.

Job Description

The Northeast Bronx YMCA is seeking a Site Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Youth & Family Director, the Site Coordinator plays a critical role in the successful operation of the Community School Program at PS111. The Site Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership, oversight and support, and to ensure quality program execution. Through strong Branch, staff, family, community, and school relationships, the Site Coordinator will work towards accomplishing the program’s vision and goals. The Site Coordinator will be responsible for providing a safe and positive environment for school age children, to provide opportunities for learning, interaction, and academic/personal growth. Specifically, the Site Coordinator will ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of children in the program by providing close supervision of all activities and staff, manage the day-to-day operations of the Y Afterschool and Y Core programs, maintain accurate program documentation (incident reports, accident report, behavior report, attendance & sign-in / sign-out sheets, and licensing requirements).

Qualifications
  • College degree in a related field required.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience working with youth.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, or RTE certifications preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, and comfortable working with diverse youth and adults.
Essential Functions
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Y Afterschool and Y Core programs.
  • Maintain accurate program documentation (participant files, staff files, YS.net data entry, incident reports, accident reports, behavior reports, attendance, sign-in/sign-out sheets, and licensing requirements).
  • Plan, create, and ensure the implementation of weekly lesson plans.
  • Observe and assess the individual needs of children and handle student-related issues.
  • Support parents/guardians in finding referrals to proper agencies for evaluations and remediation of children with special needs.
  • Monitor and update all required staff training attendance and certifications.
  • Ensure that supplies and equipment are available and kept safe.
  • Fiscal contract management.
  • Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces the diversity of all participants.
  • Create and maintain a strength-based, youth-focused atmosphere that is consistent and sensitive to the needs of participants with learning, emotional, or behavioral differences.
  • Serve as a positive role model for participants.
  • Understand and communicate the YMCA’s core values and the goals of the Y Afterschool program to participants and caregivers.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and guardians through regular communication about their child’s strengths and areas for growth.
  • Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings, and special events.
  • Adhere to all Department of Health, YMCA of Greater New York, and funder standards, expectations, and regulations.
