Job summary

Gradient Group is seeking a Civil Engineer for its Site Development team in Houston. The role involves creating engineering and construction plans, using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and H&H, and managing design tasks with CAD Designers and junior staff.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Civil Engineering, 4+ years’ site development experience, and a Texas PE license, with strong communication skills for client and team interactions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• 4+ years of site development civil engineering experience.
• Texas Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
• Experience with local jurisdictions (City of Houston, Harris County, TxDOT, Ft Bend County).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce private/public site work and civil construction plans, reports and studies.
• Oversee daily project operations and deliverables.
• Manage CAD Designers and junior team members to meet objectives.
• Coordinate with clients, scopes, budgets and schedules.
• Lead consultants for external design efforts.
• Review environmental, geotechnical, traffic and other reports for design.
• Attend client/consultant meetings and present solutions and design approaches.
• Support construction administration: submittals, RFIs, site visits.
• Enforce QA/QC procedures for all project phases.
• Ideate and participate in business development activities.

Job description

Gradient Group is looking for an innovative Civil Engineer to join our Site Development team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with creating engineering and construction plans for a variety of development projects based on their calculations and any research conducted. This person should have experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, H&H and be able to utilize strong design skills.

Key Technical Responsibilities:

• Producing private/public site work & civil engineering construction plans, reports, and studies for various projects.
• Overseeing daily operations and deliverables that may be necessary for the projects.
• Achieve project objectives by managing CAD Designers and junior team members.
• Manage client needs, project scopes, budgets, support personnel, and schedule.
• Management of consultants for design efforts outside of those handled by Gradient Group.
• Review and summarize environmental, geotechnical, traffic, and other essential reports for design implementation.
• Attend meetings with clients and consultants to understand project needs and issues, as well as present proposed solutions and design approaches.
• Construction administration management for submittals, RFIs, and site visits with direct Contractor communication and field problem-solving capabilities.
• Comply and enforce QA/QC procedures for every phase of the project.
• Business development activities and assignments.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills / Qualifications

• Texas PE Required.
• Experience with local jurisdictional governments related to design criteria and permitting (City of Houston, Harris County, TxDOT, Ft Bend County, etc.).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in regard to project calls and correspondence.
